Aether 2 is a methalox-fueled liquid rocket designed to produce a maximum thrust of 5,000 N. The propulsion system is designed around a mass flow rate of 1.5 kg/s at a chamber pressure of 8 MPa, with a 7-second burn time using a nitrogen blow-down pressurization system. Based on preliminary performance modeling, the vehicle is expected to reach an apogee of approximately 13,000ft with a maximum velocity of 242 m/s
The rocket incorporates a custom avionics bay, with a Raspberry Pi 5 serving as the primary onboard computing platform. The vehicle will stand nearly 20 feet tall with an outer diameter of 10.5 inches. A primary mission objective is comprehensive data collection to support iterative design improvements. Planned measurements include chamber pressure, propellant tank pressures, thrust output, accelerometer data, barometric altitude, and video footage of both the external vehicle and nozzle region.
